Attorney Profile

Dustin D. Johnson is an experienced, well respected, trial attorney who represents clients in the defense of criminal cases in state and federal court and professional license defense in matters before the various California professional licensing agencies (such as the Medical Board of California, California Board of Registered Nursing and the Dental Board of California).

Mr. Johnson began his practice in 2004 at Perry and Associates in Modesto (Stanislaus County). While in Stanislaus County, Mr. Johnson honed skills defending clients accused of committing crimes.  In one case, Mr. Johnson represented a client who was accused, along with three others, of attempted murder (penal code 664/187) with a gang enhancement.  After the trial, only Mr. Johnson’s client was acquitted.  The other three defendants are now serving life sentences.

After almost three years defending citizens in Stanislaus County, Mr. Johnson went to work at the Yolo County Public Defender’s office.  In a notable case while at the Public Defender’s office, Mr. Johnson represented a young man accused of assault with a deadly weapon to wit an automobile (conviction of this charge results in a life time driver’s license revocation) and enhancements for a prior strike and infliction of great bodily injury.  Mr. Johnson’s client was looking at over 15 years in prison.  After the trial, the jury did not believe the alleged victim and acquitted Mr. Johnson’s client of all charges but a single misdemeanor for which he received time served and was released from custody that day.

Mr. Johnson handles all criminal offenses (including juvenile delinquency), whether charged as misdemeanors or felonies, including domestic violence, drug charges, gang charges or federal white collar crimes.  His professional license practice involves defending professionals who find themselves having to answer to their professional licensing agency (such as the Medical Board of California, California Board of Registered Nursing and the Dental Board of California).

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Johnson is active in the legal and local community.  He is a member of the Los Rios Community College District Board of Trustees.  He was previously a member of the State Bar of California, Council on Access and Fairness.

Mr. Johnson received his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.  In addition to the State Bar of California, Mr. Johnson is licensed or admitted to practice law in United States District Court for the Eastern District of California and the District of Columbia.
